Political Science Research Exchange
After the cancellation of the 2020 conference, MPSA surveyed participants on the potential for creating some virtual opportunities to share research, gain feedback, and participate in roundtables and professional development sessions.
In these stressful and unprecedented times, it was not surprising to see that only a small percentage of authors surveyed showed an interest in a full virtual conference.
While interest was not significant enough for a full virtual conference, survey respondents still indicated a need and a desire to gain feedback on their research, and interest in some of the professional development sessions.
The Political Science Research Exchange
MPSA created a new hub for sharing research and getting feedback: The Political Science Research Exchange. While it won’t fill the place of a conference, it will help fill the gap for members.
The Political Science Research Exchange is FREE for all members of the MPSA. If you are not a member or need to renew, please do so here: https://www.mpsanet.org/Membership/Join-or-Renew-Now
The deadline for research submissions was Monday, May 11. Thank you to all who are participating by submitting to our 2020 Conference Repository of Papers and Slidecast presentations, and to those who have volunteered to serve as a discussant. Discussants and research are currently being matched and participants will be contacted as soon as matches are made and papers are made available.
Professional Development Sessions
The professional development of our members is another way MPSA will be giving back during this challenging time. Although we unfortunately couldn’t meet in-person this year, the MPSA is planning to facilitate and record a dozen virtual roundtables and professional development sessions. Each session or roundtable will be set up as a webinar and will be recorded and available on the MPSA website for future reference. More information will be available soon on session topics, scheduling and a way to sign up so our members can still experience these professional development sessions in a virtual format.
We Are In This Together
The MPSA stands strong with its purposes to promote the professional study and teaching of political science, to facilitate communications between those engaged in such study, and to develop standards for and encourage research in theoretical and practical political problems.
We appreciate your participation in the Political Science Research Exchange to help advance scholarship in all areas of political science, especially during these challenging times.
